One of the most picturesque large cities in the U.S., San Francisco and the Bay Area has much to offer as a vacation destination for individuals or families. Sightseeing, outdoor sports, art appreciation, restaurant tours, and wildlife watching are just some of the many ways to fill leisure hours in sunny San Francisco.

San Francisco is right on the Pacific Coast of California. The state’s fertile agricultural valleys and vineyards are nearby as well. A little planning will help travelers decide where they want to stay in the Bay Area, perhaps near where they desire to spend the majority of their time. A historic site on an island in the center of San Francisco Bay that includes a prison and lighthouse, people go mainly to visit the notorious prison, but the island is a National Park where many birds and other wildlife are found. Golden Gate Bridge
This famous and loved bridge is the main landmark for San Francisco. Scenic with its backdrop of hills, bay, and cityscape, most guests to the city want to be able to say they saw the Golden Gate Bridge. The adventurous can bicycle, many tour groups offer to drive visitors across and back, or people can walk and enjoy the views for a little longer as well as take photos from all angles.

Other popular places are such as the AT&T Park, the beautiful ball field where the Giants play baseball, and guests to the city may want to take a ride on the historic cable cars downtown. Then, many parks are available, and people can hike along the ridge surrounding the city and look out over the Bay Area a vacation highlight.
