Teslaforum.com Review

Tesla Forum

The Tesla Forum website, located at http://www.teslaforum.com/, is a site dedicated to the Serbian/American scientist and inventor, Nikola Tesla. A wealth of information can be found about the extraordinary inventor, his life and times, and the inventions which made him one of the most famous inventors in the world. Visit the site’s Bio page, and you will discover how truly talented Dr. Tesla was from the time of his early childhood, when he already showed signs of being self-disciplined and, according to his own Mother, had a “desire for invention.” Find out how this desire led to the discovery that changed the world in 1882, the “Alternating Current.” Here you will see how Tesla was the founding father of the remote control, gaining his radio patent in 1900. Learn also about his death in 1943 and follow the link to the Nikola Tesla Museum in Serbia, where many of his notes and calculations are being preserved.

The Tesla Forum allows users to follow links for more information about the inventions of Nikola Tesla. For example, www.pbs.org/tesla/ins/index.html is where a virtual tour is available through PBS.

The non-profit organization, Tesla Forum, is available due to the unrelenting popularity and interest in the otherwise unremarkable life of inventor Nikola Tesla, who pioneered the radio soundwave and enabled radio communications. The website also offers a glimpse of the special awards that are offered through Tesla Forums to high achieving engineering students of western universities, mainly in Australia. Learn how Serbia rewarded the Tesla Forum with a special plaque of recognition.

Tesla Forum contact information and e-mail address is available at the website http://www.teslaforum.com/, as well as donor and membership applications available for download. There are numerous links available at the website pertaining to all things Tesla, including a website for children.

For those living in Australia where Tesla Forum is based, there is information at the website about current news and events such as Annual General Meetings and picnics. But, one does not need to live “down under” to discover and enjoy the wealth of information that can be found at Tesla Forum. A great resource for students, as well as science enthusiasts and historians.

Cheap Flights

All you need to know about Expedia.com

Lately I’ve found myself with a little extra cash in my pocket so i decided to take a quick vacation down south to experience some of the warmer weather. So after searching around on the internet for a bit i discovered the site www.expedia.com.au, I have heard of expedia before but i had never actually been to their site.

Expedia was formed by Microsoft who spun it off as a multi-billion dollar company because the site was no longer about software technology, they felt concerned that they would not do their best running the site. I was surprised at how easy their site was to maneuver around.

On the home page you can easily see information about your trip with the box that is titled “Where you book matters”. Its a fairly simply and fast method to see an estimate about how much your trip will cost. It brings you to a page that allows you to browse through a wide selection of hotels with prices, photos, room choices, guest ratings, and hotel ratings.

You also have access to booking a car rental and plane or cruse tickets for your trip. One of my favorite features of the site is the “Things To Do” section. This section lists off many things to do in the city you are visiting. Theres a wide range of topics ranging from movies to helicopter rides. This is a must use for anyone who travels to different cities often.

Cheap Flights - ExpediaExpedia is the best travel resource I have used so far. I’ve been on all the major sites and Expedia has the easiest to use and cheapest prices I could find. If you are interested in taking a trip or your even just bored one day at work and you want to check out some foreign cities i highly suggest you use expedia first.

While browsing the site for the first time, it is very easy to navigate through; having links at the top of the page to access different pages such as the gallery or FAQ’s, the terms and conditions were outlined very well, and there are a good amount of “sticky’s” to explain important aspects of the forum. Many posts on the forums have quite a few responses with answers to the members questions; you do not have to be a member to access the posts, however you must sign up to post, see the member list or access the calendar.

In addition to being user friendly, the site is also visually appealing; calm colors, very legible font with a good size, and many headers exlpaining each part of the page. Australian Ford Forums has a very similar look to many forums on the internet and I think that’s a good thing. It improves accessability because visitors/members can view posts and such more quickly from experience at similar looking sites.

Once you are a full member of the forum, make a post introducing yourself to this group of people and explaining what you are looking for in the forum. You’ll find it’s a good group of people looking to share interests and help each other if possible while making new online friends.

CityBeachLEADING Australian surf, skate and lifestyle fashion retailer City Beach has launched a new online channel set to bolster market share in the ultra competitive youth market.

The nation’s largest surf retailer has partnered with IBM for its new online store to deliver a fresh interactive experience that reflects the vibrant surf and skate culture.

The site www.citybeach.com.au includes the latest YouTube videos, celebrity blogs, tweets and industry news.
City Beach marketing manager Chris Somerville, says the interactive platform is the perfect way for the brand to stay connected to its loyal customer base and to broaden its global appeal.

“E-commerce in Australia is taking off and City Beach is finding that its best location is online where it is able to extend its reach to new customers and markets,” said Mr Somerville.

“Customers can ‘talk to’ City Beach about fashions and trends. The site also features blog entries to interest our savvy demographic, which are at the cutting edge of fashion, music and what’s fresh on the street. This way, they have a reason to keep coming back.

“This brings connectivity between our burgeoning national market and our buyers. Word of mouth is paramount to any business and in retail, it can make or break you. We want to be a part of the conversation.

”City Beach has transformed its small web presence to become a dominant Australian retail leader. The business will effectively leverage the growing influence of online social networks bringing brand and product discussions back to its site and converting them into transactions.

The retailer is forecasting a modest growth in sales this year as a result of the online channel, set to improve year on year once the site becomes an integral component of its marketing ethos.

Since flicking the switch on www.citybeach.com.au in November, online traffic has increased by 400 per cent. “Online trading is at the crossroads in Australia and it’s about to go to the next level,” explained Mr Somerville.

“As far as acceptance, Australia is where the US was six or seven years ago. We are thinking fast and on our feet now. The environment is fast changing and we need to stay with it.”

The site is powered by IBM WebSphere Commerce, implemented by Salmon Asia Pacific. Paul Downs, Chief Information Officer, with overall responsibility for delivering the new channel said: “The Websphere Commerce project is core to the significant infrastructure changes we are making to underpin business growth and profitability. This platform provides our organization the flexibility to expand both internationally and into new digital channels at an appropriate juncture.”

The retail industry is becoming increasing fragmented and competitive as consumers traverse across multiple channels and researching products online, visiting the store and making purchases through the call centre – making it difficult for retailers to track shopping habits.

By aligning the in-store and on-line shopping experience, City Beach is able to leverage its online presence to drive in-store traffic. The site’s ‘gig guide’ includes store events, entertainment including instore DJs and celebrity visits.

City Beach has 57 stores throughout Australia and is home to iconic brands such as Billabong, etnies, Roxy and Ripcurl. The retailer has opened six stores per year average and is on track to have more than 60 outlets by the end of 2010.

“We have made a massive investment in resources, but it’s an investment in future proofing our business,” said Mr Somerville.

V8SuperCars.com.au Review

V8SuperCars

First off, I really like the color scheme of the website. I can tell the main colors are black and orange, but they don’t dominate the website; I can see other colors as well. Upon first looking at the home page, I feel like there is a lot of “stuff.” The news could all be condensed into one tab instead of three tabs. Also, on the front page, there is a lot of blinking, moving things that are distracting.

I think the ad placement and the number of ads is good, but the actually ads are just really “noisy.” I think the ad in the upper right hand corner about not racing on the street is a good ad, but it is mildly disturbing. It would be good to have that video corner on a loop so a client doesn’t have to watch the same gruesome thing over and over again

.
I like the schedule of events. I think it is in a good place on top of the website. It is probably a tool that comes in handy to a lot of people looking at the website. On the other hand, I don’t like the way the event calendar is set up. I think that a classic calendar that shows you the days of the week would work better. The first thing I would have to do after looking at this event calendar would be pull up another calendar to find out what day the event actually was. Also, it doesn’t have any times on it. That seems like something that could be helpful.
I really like all the pictures and videos that are available to look at. For an avid fan that isn’t able to attend an actual event, pictures and videos are the next best thing.
One thing I didn’t like was on every page, including the home page, there is a lot of white space. It kind of makes the whole page feel like it is unfinished.

One tool that I think would be a good add on to the page is a search bar. It would be nice if a person was able to search their favorite driver and find out when he or she would be racing, statistics about their past races, and any news that was important to that driver. Another thing that I think people would use would be a forum where fans could talk about the events that happened and what they thought about upcoming events. I think that would fit well under the community tab.
